The Problems We Solve

How does SuccessionKeeper help with personal finance organisation?

SuccessionKeeper is a secure, non-custodial digital vault designed for financial organisation and legacy planning. It serves as a central directory for your a wide range of accounts and assets from pensions and savings, to insurance, crypto, properties and more. By creating a digital roadmap today, you ensure your wealth is organised and easily discoverable for your family in the future.

Why should I use SuccessionKeeper?

Most financial tools are reactive, but SuccessionKeeper is proactive. We are one of the few platforms that monitors your wellbeing through smart inactivity alerts, ensuring that your financial life remains accessible to your loved ones even if you are unable to manage it yourself.

Who is SuccessionKeeper for?

Our platform is built for individuals and families who value privacy and proactive planning. It is ideal for those who want to reduce the 'discovery burden' on their heirs without handing over live access to their money or relying on complex, unorganized paper instructions or hard-to-find and outdated spreadsheets.

Your accounts and assets are presented in a clear, easy-to-use dashboard, with tools that help you understand what you have and stay in control - without accessing your money or giving advice.

What is the best way to secure financial accounts for my heirs?

The best way to secure accounts for heirs is to create a digital roadmap. SuccessionKeeper provides a secure vault to inventory your financial footprint, ensuring your nominees can discover your assets without needing your private passwords.

How can I create a private roadmap of my wealth and assets?

SuccessionKeeper allows you to build a comprehensive inventory of your pensions, investments, and insurance in one private vault. This non-custodial tool organises your financial life without ever accessing your bank logins.

What is a non-custodial financial vault and is it safe?

A non-custodial vault means SuccessionKeeper has no technical access to your money. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit using bank-grade encryption, and strict access controls ensure only you can view your financial roadmap.

The Legacy Roadmap: Solving the "Discovery" Crisis

How do I make a list of bank accounts for my family without a lawyer?

SuccessionKeeper is a DIY financial organisation tool that lets you manually record your accounts and assets at your own pace. While we are not a substitute for a will or legal advice, we serve as a vital practical guide. Having a clear record helps your loved ones identify your assets and accounts quickly when they need it most, providing clarity and direction during difficult times. By documenting these details now, you ensure your family isn't left searching for information, allowing them to focus on what matters most.

What happens if I pass away and no one knows my bank account details?

Globally, hundreds of billions in assets - including estimates of over £80 billion in the UK and $100 billion in the US - sit in dormant accounts because families simply do not know they exist. While these funds are legally owed to the heirs, they can only be recovered if the family knows exactly which institutions to contact. SuccessionKeeper acts as a vital fail-safe, ensuring that the wealth you’ve built reaches the people you intended, rather than becoming a lost statistic.

How do you verify “inactivity” before notifying my family?

SuccessionKeeper puts you in total control of the verification timeline. You define your own check-in frequency, and every login you make automatically registers you as active, preventing any false triggers. If the defined period passes without a check-in, we initiate a multi-step verification process, reaching out across your pre-approved channels of communication to confirm your wellbeing. Information is only released to your nominated contacts if all verification attempts go unanswered, providing a robust, fail-safe mechanism that ensures no premature disclosure of your private data.

Can my family access my data while I am active?

In a Personal Account, your data is strictly private. In a Family Account, you and your partner share a unified view for total household transparency. You choose the level of visibility that fits your life.

Can my nominees see my financial information now?

No. Your privacy is absolute. Your nominees only your wealth overview if our multi-layered wellbeing check-ins and active outreach phases expire without a response from you.

Can my family access my crypto (held in external platforms) without my private keys?

No. Without private keys or a seed phrase, cryptocurrency is unrecoverable. SuccessionKeeper does not store your keys, but it provides the essential "roadmap" for your heirs. Most users use our Encrypted Notes to leave secure instructions or references on where physical hardware wallets, PINs, or "seed phrases" are located. This ensures your digital assets don't vanish into the blockchain, but reach your family as intended - all without compromising your security while you are active.

Is SuccessionKeeper a replacement for a will or legal advice?

No. SuccessionKeeper is not a substitute for a will or professional legal advice.

It helps you organise information and make it accessible, but it does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice.

Privacy-First Technology: Zero-Link Control

Does SuccessionKeeper connect to my bank or pension providers?

No. We use a Zero-Link model for maximum security. We do not use "Open Banking" or APIs. You stay in total control by manually entering your data, which prevents third parties from ever "scraping" your live financial accounts.

Do you store my usernames and passwords?

No. We only hold the records of your accounts, not the credentials to access them. While you have the option to include account identifiers for clarity, this is entirely optional. Because we do not store login credentials, your live financial accounts remain secure even if a third party you use were ever compromised.

SuccessionKeeper acts as a secure "directory" of your wealth, ensuring the road to your assets is clearly documented without ever holding the keys to the assets themselves.

What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

2FA adds a mandatory second layer of security. When you log in, you must verify your identity with a one-time code sent via email, SMS, or call. This ensures your account remains private even if your password is stolen.

Who can access my data inside SuccessionKeeper?

Only you have access to your personal account data. By design, SuccessionKeeper employees and founders have no way to access your records. In a Family Account, both members share access in real-time to ensure household transparency. All internal operations follow strict access controls and confidentiality policies to ensure your privacy is never compromised.

How secure is my data?

Your data is protected with AES 256-bit encryption at rest and TLS encryption in transit. Strict access controls ensure only you can view your records. All data is hosted on secure Google Cloud infrastructure located exclusively in the United Kingdom, protected by multiple layers of digital and physical security.

What kind of encryption do you use?

We use AES-256 encryption for data stored at rest - one of the strongest standards available. For data in transit (between your device and our servers), we use TLS 1.3, the modern successor to SSL.

In short: your data is encrypted in transit via TLS and encrypted at rest in our database throughout its lifecycle.

Where is my data stored?

All data is hosted on Google Cloud data centres located in the United Kingdom.

We do not transfer your data outside the UK or EU without your explicit consent and only to jurisdictions that provide equivalent data-protection standards.

Do you sell or share my data?

Absolutely not. This is a core reason why SuccessionKeeper is a paid service; our users are our customers, not our product. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, analytics platforms, or any third parties. The only data sharing that occurs is what you explicitly choose - such as when you nominate trusted contacts to receive your directory after a verified period of inactivity.

Continuity & Resilience

What happens if there is a data breach?

We follow a swift, transparent response plan: containing the system, notifying affected users and authorities as required by law, and providing clear updates on the resolution. Our commitment is to act swiftly, responsibly, and transparently.

What happens if I delete my account?

Your data is permanently erased after a short grace period. We do not keep recoverable copies. You can also export your data at any time - you are never locked in, and your information is always yours.

How can I contact you about privacy or security?

If you have questions or concerns about data protection or security, please contact our Data Privacy Team at support@successionkeeper.com.

We respond to all verified security reports promptly and transparently.

How much does it cost?

SuccessionKeeper costs £4 per month.

This small fee supports secure infrastructure, ongoing development, and continuous improvements to privacy and security. We charge a fee so we never have to monetise your data or rely on advertising.

Is SuccessionKeeper affiliated with or backed by any institution?

No. SuccessionKeeper is fully independent and not affiliated with or funded by any financial institution.
